About

Why Alpenglow exists.

Alpenglow Partners was built for the moment a leadership team realizes the problem is bigger than a tool. The company asks for AI. The real issue is the operating layer underneath.

The thesis

The operating layer is the missing piece in most AI initiatives.

The ERP is fragile. The reports are late. The workflows are undocumented. The team is overloaded. The systems are too risky to replace quickly and too painful to leave alone.

That is where we work. We bring senior technology architecture, operational discipline, security and resilience thinking, and AI-native implementation into one partner model.

We are not here to sell hype. We are here to help serious companies modernize the systems that actually run the business.

Co-founders

Two operators who have seen both sides.

Alpenglow Partners is founded by two people who built and operated companies before becoming transformation partners.

Dmitri Sunshine, co-founder of Alpenglow Partners

Dmitri Sunshine

Operations, security, and systems

Dmitri Sunshine has spent more than 20 years building enterprise systems. He taught himself to code as a teenager and left college at nineteen to build full-time. That work became InReach Solutions, an ERP platform for social-services agencies that he bootstrapped from zero to roughly 80 organizations across the country, and ran for fourteen years with no outside capital.

Today he runs Solanasis, a firm built on operational resilience and responsible AI. Its work runs from security assessments where disaster recovery is actually tested, to data migrations with chain-of-custody, to AI built with audit trails and governance guardrails. He brings the operating-layer view: where a business is leaking capacity, where its systems are fragile, and where AI can safely help.

Track record

  1. 2007-2021

    Founder and CEO, InReach Solutions

Bootstrapped an ERP platform for social-services agencies to roughly 80 organizations over fourteen years, with no outside capital.

  2. 2022-present

    Founder and CEO, Sage'd

Built an enterprise management and ERP platform designed so teams can configure it without outside consultants.

  3. 2026-present

    Founder and CEO, Solanasis

Operational resilience and responsible AI. Tested disaster recovery, chain-of-custody data migrations, and governed AI.

What they bring

  • The operating-layer view. Where a business leaks capacity and where its systems are fragile.
  • Operational resilience. Disaster recovery that is tested, not just documented.
  • Enterprise systems and ERP. More than 20 years, including fourteen running a bootstrapped ERP platform.
  • Responsible AI. Built with audit trails and governance guardrails, not bolted on.
  • Founder-operator judgment. He has built and run the kind of company he now advises.
Ivan Smirnov, co-founder of Alpenglow Partners

Ivan Smirnov

Architecture, AI, and engineering

Ivan Smirnov spent five years as a software engineer at Google, working on products used by billions of people, including Ads, Assistant, and Cloud. Then he left to build. As a founding CTO and later a VP of Infrastructure, he architected the platforms behind startups serving millions of users, and learned where systems crack under real load.

Today he runs Smirnov Labs, a fractional CTO practice, and has advised more than ten companies on architecture, infrastructure, and bringing AI into a business. He brings the senior platform thinking that lets a modern operating layer scale without breaking the business.

Track record

  1. 2016-2021

    Software Engineer, Google

Products used by billions of people, including Ads, Assistant, and Cloud.

  2. 2020-2023

    Founding CTO, Elude

Architected a distributed microservices platform and shipped five product launches.

  3. 2023-2024

    VP of Infrastructure, Safe Health

Healthcare platform on microservices and Kubernetes, with a 24-month modernization roadmap.

  4. 2024-present

    Founder and CEO, Smirnov Labs

Fractional CTO practice. More than ten companies advised on architecture, infrastructure, and AI.

What they bring

  • Senior platform architecture. Systems designed to scale without breaking the business.
  • Cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS, with microservices and Kubernetes.
  • AI-era engineering. Bringing AI into a business in a way that holds up in production.

What we believe

The principles that shape every engagement.

These are the rules we keep coming back to, the ones that separate real transformation from theater.

  • Operating layer first. Build the foundation before the AI demo.
  • Wrap before you replace. The ERP is too valuable to rip out blindly.
  • Humans in the loop. AI assists; people decide what ships.
  • Revenue capacity per employee. The metric that measures real leverage.
  • One accountable partner. No vendor sprawl. One team behind us.
  • Quiet, durable progress. No hype. No theater. The systems just get better.
